December 22nd - Hot Springs!

Before heading out to the hot springs, Meyo wanted to show us the local food scene for breakfast.

The courtyard of their apartment complex.

The first food we found was in a small mall. For this, you just sit down and start eating, and at the end they bill you based on the number of toothpicks you have left.

Food on toothpicks.

I guess, since I'm American, Meyo took us to try pizza.

Thin pizza covered in lots of meat.

I think it's safe to say we ate enough for the day.

When we arrived at the hot springs resort we had another surprise - our friends had paid for our stay at the resort!

While that night I don't think we went to the hot springs, we were sure to in the morning.

We arrived early so that there weren't many people, and we were also able to take some pictures.

The first "pool" you see.

So far, all of these springs were very hot. We would only be able to stay in them for a couple of minutes at most, and then you would have to sit on the edge to cool off. It was really nice, however.

The springs were also full of little flakes - almost appearing as dust clouds in the water - which we at first thought to be dead skin cells. This was kind of disgusting, but eventually we settled on the idea that it was calcium.

After probably an hour in these springs, we decided to explore, and discovered that nearby there were many smaller springs of varying temperatures.

That night, I got to experience Chinese cable TV for the first time.

We start with a video game streaming channel.

Getting Over It.

We then found a channel teaching us English...

Learning English.

...and finally a very dramatic show about salt (?)
