December 26th - Goodbye Beijing

We would start the 26th with a visit to a history museum in Beijing.

To get to the museum you have to go through the same security as Tiananmen Square, which is quite tight but was uneventful. They had to check our identification to let us in.

We went through the first few exhibits together, which took a few hours, and saw all kinds of neat little things about early China.

Some artifacts I thought were interesting enough to photograph.

After a few hours Yuxiu suggested she take a nap while I explore. I also didn't have a lot of time before they closed, so I went through the museum fairly quickly.

I went through the rest of the museum at a brisk walk - so no more photos.

On the way out I saw something interesting though - this guy's hoodie.

It's odd as it looks like the ACE REPAIR logo, but the subtext is "DEATH, SO IT BE GLORIOUS? TIS A SUNSET".

One of the last things we would explore in Beijing is of course food.

Back in downtown we got Mala Tang for the first time. I really wish we had tried it sooner, because it's excellent. You walk into the store get a bowl, and fill it with the meat and vegetables (ha!) you want. They then take your bowl, add some hot spicy soup and let it simmer for a bit.

So it's like fast food, except you can just get a bowl of flavored meat. It's amazing. I didn't get any good pictures, but you can just lookup "Mala Tang".

Our next stop was a McDonalds for desert, since we had noticed a couple of days before how much better their deserts look in China.

We had also previously noticed that The Cheesecake Factory is in China. Disappointingly, menu seems to remain unchanged from in the US.

So, that's our trip. In the airport we also tried the Karaoke machines, but it's far too embarrassing to upload that.
